Considered Change: Extend Checkbox Capability

Jul 21, 2014 at 3:45 PM
If there is interest in the following improvement, please comment:

Currently the directory tree only displays checkboxes for file nodes: you enter a check by a file name, and that file will be processed.

The change I am considering will display a checkbox for directory nodes also. Checking off a directory node will check off all files in the associated directory (file nodes in subdirectories will keep their current checkbox state); unchecking a directory node will uncheck all files in the associated directory.

Let me know if this considered change has value to you.

Looked into extending checkbox capability for directory nodes; changed approach because checkboxes for tree nodes are not tri-state. Code that has been implemented will launch a dialog that gives user options to check or uncheck all file nodes (either for just the current directory or beginning at the current directory and recursively following all subdirectories). Useful when installing book sample files and Excel data models are located in various directories (usually corresponding to chapters). Currently testing with other new features. Expect next version release within next two weeks (today is September 24, 2014).
